As I search for information about the Olympics which start in just two days I seem to find more reports on fashion then the teams and athletes. The 2012 Olympics are being coined the “Fashion Olympics” , because of all the high-end designers that have designed collections for their countries teams.
You may not know who are on some of the teams but you sure will know ‘who they are wearing’. We all know that the US is being represented by Ralph Lauren and his stodgy, made in China uniforms. Stella McCartney has designed the collection for Great Britain, which makes sense as she has a collection for Adidas. Prada and Armani are designing for Italy, Ferragamo for the Republic of San Remo, l Ermanno Scervino for the Azerbaijan Republic, and Hermes’ for the French equestrian team.
I am all for a runway show but is it really appropriate to turn the Olympic grandstand into a catwalk?
